Biography

Hello! My name is Mrs. Tongi, and I am beyond excited to be a kindergarten teacher at Mountainville Academy. Teaching has always been my passion, and I have been working with children in one form or another for more than 30 years. I earned my bachelor's degree from BYU–Hawaii and later completed my master's degree through Western Governors University.

One of my favorite life adventures began at BYU–Hawaii, where I met my husband. He is half Tongan and half Samoan, and together we have three wonderful children. Our two oldest sons have graduated from high school, and we spent many years cheering them on at basketball and football games. These days, our daughter keeps us busy with her love of dance, and we enjoy spending our time supporting her at practices, performances, and competitions.

I was born in Maryland, lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming for 11 years, and then moved to southeastern Georgia, where I completed junior high and high school. These experiences gave me the opportunity to live in different parts of the country and appreciate a variety of people and communities.

As a teacher, my goal is to create a classroom where every child feels loved, valued, supported, and capable of success. I believe that strong relationships and a positive learning environment help children grow both academically and personally. I am honored to be part of the Mountainville Academy family and look forward to serving our students and community for many years to come.
