Janelle Palmer

Math Specialist

I was born and raised in the incredible state of Minnesota. As a youth, I loved to participate in sports, especially soccer and softball. After highschool, I ventured to Brigham Young University, where I earned a degree in elementary education. While there, I played on the Women’s Soccer Team (it was a club team in those days). I attended BYU Hawaii for one semester and fell in love with the ocean (my first time seeing it). Fun notable accomplishments while there - I was the Foosball Champion of the school and also earned an Advanced Scuba Diving Certification.

After graduating from BYU, my professional journey led me to Southern California where my teaching career started as a 6th grade teacher. I continued my education in order to teach math at the middle school level. I hold the belief that learning is a lifelong endeavor, a principle that guided me to pursue a Masters of Mathematics Education. Continuously dedicated to growth, I’ve earned teaching endorsements in Educational Technology and K - 8 Mathematics, along with leadership endorsements to increase my capacity as a Mathematics Specialist and Teacher Mentor. I have enjoyed my ten years at Mountainville because of the warm and inviting atmosphere where every child can thrive.

My greatest accomplishment is my family. While in Southern California, I met my amazing husband, moved to Northern California, and together, raised six incredible children. Ten years ago, we made the decision to move to Utah.We have enjoyed the beauty of the mountains and all the outdoor activities. It was at this time I decided to resume my teaching career after a long break of staying home to raise my children. We currently have six wonderful grandchildren - soon to be seven. My ultimate joy resides in spending quality time with my family.
