Sharon Judd

5th Grade Teacher

Joseph Joubert once said, "To teach is to learn twice." This is why I love to teach. It seems that I am always learning and growing. I love to see the light turn on for my students the first time and then have my own light of understanding burn even brighter as I help others understand. In high school, I knew that a lifetime of teaching (and consequently learning) would integrate many of my passions and I haven't waivered since. My 31 years as an educator has given me teaching and learning opportunities in schools in rural Utah, urban Colorado and now somewhere in between. I have loved my students in classes from Kindergarten to 3rd grade and now in 5th. They just keep getting taller, which my neck appreciates.I love being a part of the Mountainville team. I believe in the school motto of building tomorrow's leaders one student at a time, through personal and academic excellence. I am passionate about my role well described by Ken Blanchard when he said, "Your role as a leader is even more important than you might imagine. You have the power to help people become winners." My latest challenge is to balance all the things I love most; my family, teaching, music, and sewing. A little bit of the Peanuts gang along the way helps remind me that inside each of us is someone a little less serious.
